Captain Boorman Resigns Before King James

Farce

Hugh Boorman has decided to give up his six-season tenure as captain, fixture secretary, bagman and selector. This came to an end as he led his 6 man team out at the rugby club , Bishop Auckland. Thanks to King James generosity in giving one player and lending fielders the game was able to take place. After 20 minutes Ron and Phil Woods turned up but Davison had pulled out at a very late stage and this obviously was the final straw for Boorman. (For this Davison wishes to apologise).

Blushes were spared by some excellent bowling performances from Steve Ball (12-2-30-4) and Paul Wetheridge (11-0-44-4). Despite some lesser bowling King James were held to 176 for 8 off 40 overs.

In reply Middleham started well with Ron Woods and Hugh Boorman taking the total to 46 for the first wicket. Woods and Williams fell at the same score. Phil Woods came in at number four to play probably the best innings of his Middleham career and finished on 51 retired. While Hugh Boorman was at the wicket there was a glimmer of hope but some excellent fielding ran him out having reached 23. No one else in the team made more than 7 runs.

The end of the season has been disappointing and the traditional do will be important as not only is there over £50 in Ron's fine box but Boorman is looking for others to take over his roles.
